Love it however would recommend a larger bolt instead of the 3 inch screws i had one break wheninstalling.
The installation was simple and so was programming the fingerprints. My weapon feels secure when it's in the safe and removing it is fast and reliable.
Great product. Simple, yet effective. Get the price point down to $199.. and I will buy multiple.
Installed in truck. Small customization. But super happy with it.
It looks great and gets the job done - so consider this a smaller complaint.
The housing wiggles around in the mount a little bit. Not enough to break it free, but enough to be annoying. I just ordered a 360 mount, hoping I can use it to add a little extra tension.
I would gladly cough up an extra $100 for a premium version with more rigidity, a higher quality/non-plastic holster, and a quieter draw (the resulting noise from the holster, not the mechanism)
So far so good. It opens fast, good, positive lock, just hard to find a good location to mount. Bought it for my 2007 2500 HD Silverado, center console mount, then when I received it I find out the key access is located at the bottom, requiring more vertical space to use (key length + device slide mechanism. Disassembly is not horrible, but not easy. Reassemble is a bitch in my opinion. It would be near impossible to reassemble in my center console.
So I went to plan B, use vehicle seat mount option, that will not work in my 2007 Silverado either, not Vera Safety's fault though, my seat mounting lug is too short .
Unlocking so far is incredibly fast, pretty impressed. And it reads my prints where customs readers cannot.
BTW, I'm a firearms instructor and give a lot of feed back to my students.
Quick service and it fits my new 1911 perfectly
The unit is solid! Impressive design and construction. Unfortunately my package did not include hardware or th driver bit for the hardware. I looked for a customer service phone number and there is not one available. I emailed support but have not hear led back from them. Disappointing, becauseI really like the unit. - RC
We loved our first RACT so much we got a second one for the back of the house. Easy to instal and easy to use. Super safe and secure!
I initially gave them a 1 star because the biometrics wasn’t working and was worried that I had made a mistake buying from a company I wasn’t familiar with. I then contacted VARA via email and they promptly responded and after apologizing for the QC issue sent me a new biometric unit which was properly tested by QC. The system now works flawlessly and I have to say that VARA is a trustworthy company, they stand by their product and their customer service is excellent. Although their only means of communication is via email you will get a response the same day and they will work with you to make it right, that was my experience with John. I have to add that the product is of high quality and the flexibility to make adjustments allowing the AR fit properly are amazing. Great job VARA!!!
Recently got my second ract. Love these things. They could improve by making a few more bracket styles that will work with folding stocks and pistol grip bases.
Great product!! Took a while to receive it but it looks and works great.
Fit, Finish and packaging is spot on.
Strong product. Easy install. Install video is good but could be better if the product and parts shown font match the pants of the instructor, had to watch a few times in middle to see the trigger configuration parts which i had to change, only took 1 minute to get right right after i could see good. Biometric is easy to operate and program. Worth the money.
Have yet to mount the wall, but have aligned the firearms in to the safe. Fingerprint recognition is quick and easy makes you feel you never have to worry about releasing it when needed.it’s like having a holster on your waist love it..if you have a large property, you will have no problem, walking around the property and knowing that your firearm is secure when you get back to it.
VERY much want the left-handed version! Still, this is mounted on the left underside of my desk, between the leg and the keyboard-tray slide. Than means I have to use my left hand thumb or pointer-finger to trigger the lock. Awkward, but useable. Doubly awkward cause the spring is new and strong (and, I'm guessing, WON'T get any weaker!) when the pop the lock, the gun LEAPS out. Only hit the floor once; I'm sure as I get more used to it, it'll be easier to "catch." And, too, my contractor just finished mounting it -- so I've only used it 2-3 times.
Really REALLY awkward to figure out how to assemble it, lying under the desk and trying to figure out which way and how to get the keyed slide back in place. But then, I'm 70-yr-old woman installing the super little thing and trying out my Kimber Micro in it after the contractor left. I'm very impressed.
Still -- I NEED TWO left-handed versions -- bedside and near front door!
